ParkPulse Privacy Policy
Last updated 19 September 2026
The short version
ParkPulse shows live theme park wait times. You can browse the app without an account; friendships and private messages require sign-in. We never sell your data or use it for advertising. You can delete your account inside the app; the retention and purchase-recovery exceptions are explained below.
What we collect
If you sign in with Apple we store the identifier Apple gives us, your display name and, if you set one, your profile photo. Apple does not give us your email address unless you choose to share it.
We store what you create in the app: favourites, wait alerts, plans, dish ratings and any photos you attach, price reports, posts, comments, friend connections, profile visibility choices, a bio, status text and private messages. Guest contributions are tied to a random identifier on your device. Friendships and private messages are tied to your signed-in account.
We collect basic diagnostic information when the app crashes or misbehaves, so we can fix it.
Location
Location is optional and off until you allow it. We use it to tell which park you are in, to time how long you actually waited in a queue, and to give walking directions inside a park.
Two things need location while the app is closed: timing a queue, and noticing that you have arrived at a park so alerts you asked for only at a park can work. That is why iOS may ask for background location separately. We ask when you are actually at a park, not before. Away from a park we check roughly and rarely, not step by step.
Your coordinates stay on your device. Working out which park you are in, and which area of it you are standing in, happens on your phone using boundaries we send to it. What reaches us is the park and the name of the area — "Fantasyland", not a position — so other guests can see which parts of a park are busy. We keep one such record per person, replace it each time, and delete it after ten minutes. Nothing is sent unless you are inside a park, and you can turn the contribution off in Settings. It is not a trail of where you walked.
The one exception is sharing your location with friends. That does send your position while it is switched on. It is off until you turn it on, only people you have accepted as friends can see it. Turning it off stops sharing immediately, and any position already held is deleted within the hour.
If you choose messages from people in the same park, we also use recent shared locations to check that you and the sender are in the same park. This does not show your position to strangers.
Notifications
If you allow notifications we store a push token so we can tell you when a wait drops, a ride reopens or a new dish appears. Turn any of them off in the app, or all of them in iOS Settings.
Who else sees it
We do not sell your data, share it for advertising, or use advertising trackers.
We use service providers to run the app and to receive crash reports. They may process your data only on our instructions and are required to protect it to at least the standard set out in this policy. Apple delivers push notifications.
Anything you post publicly in the app — posts, comments, ratings and their photos — is visible to other guests. That is the point of posting it.
Profile statistics follow your individual visibility settings. Recorded park visits and pedometer steps stay on this device unless you explicitly share aggregate totals from Profile Privacy. Sharing totals does not upload your detailed visit trail. Private messages are stored by ParkPulse and shown to their participants; they are not end-to-end encrypted. Moderators can review messages reported by a participant. You can choose who may message you and block people. Your friend status is shared with accepted friends.
Photos and videos in private messages expire after 30 days and are deleted from ParkPulse storage. Copies someone saves outside the app or screenshots are outside this expiry. Video compression happens on your device before uploading and does not change the original in your photo library.
Reports and blocks
If you report content or a private message we store the report — what you reported, why, anything you added, and which identifier sent it — so a moderator can act on it. If you block someone we store that too, against the same identifier, because it is what keeps them out of your feed.
Keeping and deleting it
We keep what you create until you delete it or delete your account, except for the private-media expiry and retained billing records described in this policy.
Profile, then Delete Account, removes your account and everything you created: posts, comments, sent and received private messages, ratings and their photos, price reports, the reports you filed about other people's content, plans, favourites and alerts. It cannot be undone. Deleting the app on its own does not delete data held for an account, so use Delete Account first if that is what you want.
If you buy ParkPulse Plus or a Trip Pass, Apple processes the payment and provides the purchase record needed to unlock the features. ParkPulse does not receive your full payment details. Deleting your ParkPulse account does not cancel an Apple subscription; manage or cancel renewal in your Apple Account subscriptions. A Trip Pass is a one-time purchase and ends after seven days.
We retain billing records and a keyed, non-readable purchase recovery identifier after account deletion. This lets you restore a valid purchase after signing in again with the same Apple identity, without retaining your profile or email.
Wait statistics that have been aggregated and no longer identify anyone stay, because they are what makes the app useful to everybody.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Delete Account does the last of those immediately. For anything else, write to us and we will answer within 30 days.
Children
ParkPulse is not aimed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us data, write to us and we will remove it.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top and, where the change matters, tell you in the app.
